Treat care

Keep your treats legendary

Everything leaves my kitchen fresh, sealed, and ready to party. Here is how to keep it that way, straight from Joni (with a little supervision from Bigfoot and Dino).

The golden rules

Cool, not cold

Keep treats at room temperature, out of the sun, ideally below 75°F. Our almond bark is tougher than chocolate, but an Arkansas summer car always wins.

Make us your last stop

Keep the box flat on the floor or seat with the AC on, and head straight home. Bigfoot drives carefully. Dino, not so much.

The fridge makes them sweat

Cold treats sweat when they warm back up. That means sticky coatings and blurry edible images, so skip the fridge unless a treat below says otherwise.

Keep them sealed

Air is the enemy of crunch. Leave everything in its bag or an airtight container until it is party time.

Cookies

Best within 5 to 7 days

Keep cookies sealed at room temperature. Want to save some for later? Freeze them in a zip bag or airtight container for up to 3 months.

To bring one back to just-baked glory, thaw it on the counter for 30 to 60 minutes, then warm it in the microwave for 8 to 12 seconds or in a 300°F oven for 3 to 5 minutes.

Dipped Oreos

Best within 1 to 2 weeks

Every Oreo is fully dipped, so that almond bark shell locks in the crunch. Store them sealed at room temperature, no fridge needed.

Stacking them? Slip parchment between layers so the designs stay picture perfect.

Dipped pretzel rods

Best within 1 to 2 weeks

Pretzel rods are dipped almost all the way, with a little bare handle so fingers stay clean. Keep them sealed and dry at room temperature, because humidity is the fastest way to a sad, bendy pretzel.

Lay them flat so the decorations stay picture perfect.

Dipped Rice Krispie treats

Best within 3 to 5 days

These are the divas of the box. They are fully dipped to help hold in that soft, chewy marshmallow, but they still want to stay sealed tight at room temperature. Eat these first.

Cake pops

Best within 3 to 5 days

Keep cake pops in their bags at cool room temperature, standing up or lying flat, away from the sun.

Planning ahead? Refrigerate them, still sealed, for up to a week. Let them sit on the counter for about an hour before opening the bags so they come to room temperature without sweating.

Edible images

Best within Same as the treat

Edible prints are made with food-safe ink that hates moisture. Keep photo treats out of the fridge, out of the sun, and away from steamy kitchens so the picture stays sharp.

Party day tips

Best within Serve and enjoy

  • Set the treats out about 30 minutes before guests arrive.
  • Outdoor party? Keep the tray in the shade and put out only what will disappear within an hour.
  • Leftovers go right back in a sealed container.
  • Our kitchen handles peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, milk, eggs, and soy.

Can I freeze them?

Best within Plan ahead

Cookies freeze beautifully for up to 3 months, and cake pops for up to 1 month. Thaw them overnight in the fridge while still sealed, then let them reach room temperature before opening.

Dipped Oreos, pretzel rods, and Rice Krispie treats are best fresh, so we do not recommend freezing those.
